Subject: Making applications/games open in landscape by themselves!
1: Open phone in EFS explorer and go to /brew/mod/obione/jas/index/ 2: Go through the ##.txt files until you find the one you want to open in landscape (Opera is a good example). 3: Change the CATE number to 16 (this is the IM & Email folder which opens in landscape without any other hacking) and save it somewhere that you can find it. if you just save it will go somewhere stupid and it wont modify the phone. 4: Overwrite the existing ##.txt on the phone with the modified one. 5: Restart the phone and go into landscape mode. Open the IM & Email and voila, its in there! Thanks to http://www.u740.ca for having a dedicated site to this phone. If anyone out there reads this that knows how to flash phones and/or mod firmware please email or pm me, I would really like to learn!

Subject: Go it
Change the cate to 16 and restart, you will have them accesibly in the IM & Email menu when you open in landscape! trying to figure out now how to unlock the applications folder so it can be seen in the landscape mode.

Subject: Downloads Menu
Isn't the Problem not that the apps won't run in Landscape mode, but that you can't access the downloads menu? Whenever you try, it tell you that "Browser/Apps Not available in Landscape mode". If you can get the Menu to display in Landscape mode... you should be able to run the applications. Just a Thought.

Subject: A solution to your problem
It's actually very easy to do. It requires no software or firmware mods whatsoever. Works better if you have smaller hands tho (of course, if you have this phone you need those anyways).
Opening games/apps in landscape:
1. Open Downloads then Applications/Games/etc (doesn't really matter which, I've tried and it works no matter which you use).
2. Select (but don't launch) the "Get New" option on whichever you chose.
3. Keeping your thumb on the OK/MENU button, close the phone as far as you can, then hit the OK/MENU button.
4. Quickly open the phone in landscape mode and voila, landscape apps and games. Repeat as necessary.
**I have done this dozens of times and never hurt my phone. If you're that worried about it tho, you can do it without partially closing the phone first. You have about a 3-5 second window, you just have to be faster and more careful

Doesn't it seem to be missing CATE=32 and CATE=64?

Edit the index and set PRLD to 0 and it will let you DELETE the DUPLICATE demo apps (movies, midnight pool, etc)

Subject: Apps in Lanscape Mode
Hey, I love this site, thanks for all your work on this phone. Just wondering if you have done any more work on the "apps in landscape mode". Hopefully there is someway to trick the phone to think the apps can run in landscape, like the Windows Live. Thanks again, this site has made my phone soo much more usefull than it was from Bell.

I've been wondering the same thing actually... I havent tried to figure it out yet though, but maybe deleting the corresponding .txt files via QPST would work?
